Stick Wood Turning

Woodwork By Ed Lamb

Ed Lamb got started turning wood, while in high school, where he turned a few items such as goblets, wood bowls, and small columns. Since then he has performed woodworking of many aspects, from building entertainment centers, to dressers, and yes even shelves. But his love for turning wood has always been with him. Taking a block of wood, spinning it on the lathe, while cutting away at the block and forming an object of beauty, is challenging, and gives one a great feeling of satisfaction.

Each item Ed Lamb makes is unique, no two items are alike. Each is turned using a wood lathe, and hand tools to form the shapes. Ed Lamb has many tools at his disposal, from a table saw, radio arm saws, band saws, and various other hand electrical tools to normal hand tools themselves.

In creating the wood bowls, wood lamps, and other items shown here, no live trees are cut down. Wood is taken from fallen trees, cut to desired shapes, dried, and turned to shape. Some wood may be purchased, at times, as necessary.

Types of wood turning, include solid wood turning, segmented wood turning, stick wood turning, solid/veneer turnings, and hollowed shape turnings, as in lamps, and ornamentals turnings. Ed Lamb can create a wood bowl, wood vase, wood lamp, or wood plate to your liking, or you can choose from one of the many items currently for sale.
